Where is Cakes In Bloom located?

Currently, Cakes In Bloom does not have a storefront. However, we do operate out of a fully licensed commercial kitchen located in my home.  My commercial kitchen is inspected by the Monroe County Health Department. 

What are your hours of operation?

We are open Tuesday thru Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM and Saturday, 10:00 AM- 2:00PM. We are closed Sunday and Monday. You can always attempt contact me via email or Facebook after these posted hours.  I often respond to emails/messages after hours.

When should I place my order?

For custom celebration cakes, you should place your order at least 1 week in advance, preferably two. As there are a limited number of orders taken for each day, slots fill up! So the sooner the better!

How do I pay for my custom celebration cake?

For custom cakes $100 or over, a non-refundable deposit is taken at the time of your order. This secures your date and guarantees your cake! All cake slots are first come, first served! This also helps us begin work on your cake, by allowing us to order what we need to create it. The deposit will be in the amount of 50% of the total cost of your special cake. The remainder of the cost of the cake will be collected upon delivery.  If your cake's total cost is under $100, your total payment will be collected at delivery.

Is your bakery nut free?

No, our bakery is not nut free. We do make and sell items that contain nuts, but we do offer many items without nuts. We do our best to prevent nuts coming into contact with these items, but we cannot guarantee this.

Can I pick up my celebration cake?

No. All cakes from Cakes In Bloom are delivered, as we do not have a storefront. There is not a delivery fee for untiered celebration cakes delivered within 20 miles of the bakery.  If the delivery location is over 20 miles from the bakery, there will be a delivery fee of $25.00 added to the bill.  Deliveries over 30 miles from the bakery may incur additional charges.  There is always a delivery fee for any tiered (2 tiers or more) custom cakes due to the increased difficulty of transporting. If you are located within 20 miles of the bakery, there is a $25 delivery fee. Over 20 miles, you will be charged $25 plus $1 per each additional mile. Mileage is determined by Google Maps or Mapquest.  

Can I schedule a consultation/tasting for a celebration cake?

A consult is not necessary for these types of cakes. Except for the most elaborate of celebration cakes, everything can be handled via phone and email.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept cash, check, or credit card.

How should I store my cupcakes/cakes?

Most of our cupcakes and cakes should be stored in a cool place on the counter. Some of our items do require refrigeration and you will be instructed of this upon delivery. Prior to serving, remove these items 1-2 hours before the event and allow them to come to room temperature.

Wedding Cake FAQs

Do you offer tastings and consultations for wedding cakes?

Yes! This service is provided only for wedding cakes. Our consultations are free and are available for the bride and groom. The consultation is scheduled by calling Cakes In Bloom and setting up a time to come in and meet! Call 812-876-2680. Leave a message if no answer and we will call you back ASAP!

What should I bring to the consultation?

As much as possible! We will be discussing the design of your wedding cake so the more information, the better. Some examples include: pictures of cakes you like, your invitation, picture of wedding dress, color swatches, etc. Wedding date, venue, and number of guests are other important details.

How much are your wedding cakes?

The total cost of a wedding cake depends on many factors, so it is difficult to give a general price. Cost is dependent on the number of servings, decoration detail, cake flavor, cake filling, type of icing, and delivery. A consultation is necessary to give a more accurate cost of a wedding cake. Our most basic wedding cake with buttercream frosting starts at $2.75 per serving. Fondant cakes begin at around $3.50 per serving. Costs increase when adding detail work and/or flowers. Keep your cake budget in mind when selecting your design!

How far in advance do I have to book?

Preferably, booking at least 2 months in advance is desired. Dates can and do book up in advance, so the earlier you book your date the better! We close orders for a day as soon as we reach capacity. Popular wedding months fill up quickly!

When do I pay for my wedding cake?

Upon choosing Cakes In Bloom to create your wedding cake for your special day, a non-refundable deposit of $100 will be due in order to secure your wedding date. We cannot guarantee that there will be a spot for your wedding cake until this deposit is received. We close orders for wedding cakes for a particular day as soon as we reach capacity. Spots can go quickly, so book as soon as you know! The remainder of the balance is due 2 weeks prior to your event.

What if I need to cancel my order?

Cakes canceled prior to the 2 week deadline (payment due date) may be refunded, minus the non-refundable deposit. Cakes canceled following this deadline do not receive a refund.

What about delivery?

Yes, we provide delivery. A $50 delivery fee is charged for all deliveries within 20 miles of the bakery. Over 20 miles will be charged $50, plus $1 for each additional mile. Mileage is determined by Google Maps or Mapquest. Cakes In Bloom will deliver your wedding cake to the venue 2-3 hours prior to the event.

Do you cut the cake?

We do not stay and cut the cake. Most caterers or venues will provide that service. A cake cutting guide will be provided on how to cut the wedding cake.

Can I pick up or have someone pick up my wedding cake?

Our bakery does not have a storefront at this time and all of our items are delivered. The delicate nature of wedding cake deliveries requires that we deliver your cake. So much can go wrong during transport of a wedding cake and this is something that should be handled by someone who is accustomed to driving cakes to their destination.
